Mick O’Connor

Mick has been playing the banjo since 1967 and toured extensively all over the world since then. He won the 1971 All-Ireland Tenor Banjor Championship. In 1986 and 1987 he claimed two All-Ireland Ceili Band medals as a member of “Thatch Ceili Band”. In 2004 his contributions to traditional Irish music were recognized by Irish Preseident Mary McAleese. In 2013 he won a Bardic Award at the All Ireland Fleadh. In 2019 he and four others won Jig of Life Awards from NYAH Comhaltas Cavan Irish Music.
